Act One Drama Studio has successfully run drama classes and workshops in Sheffield, since August 1994. Our goal is to give professional knowledge to our students by employing trained professionals. We want students to have fun and learn at the same time using acting techniques all can enjoy. Weekly drama classes and holiday workshops are for any student wanting to improve their confidence & acting ability. We run classes for 6-11 year olds, 11-16 year olds, 16-19 year olds and an Adult class.

Our stage school was founded in 1932 by Betty Fox. We offer training in various disciplines of dance, drama and vocal training for children from 3 years to young adults. We offer the 3 hour block of performing arts. Each class is 1 hour duration (apart from the Infants Class which is a 2 hour class and cannot be split). It is preferable to study the 3 hours, in-order to obtain “the all round experience” for auditions, performance and confidence. Tap is a rhythmic dance involving specific shoes allowing the wearer to create sound in a fun and exciting way. Tap will build upon your child’s musicality, co-ordination and confidence. The syllabus taught has been designed to increase upon precision and timing and nationally recognised exams can be taken.

At the present time when Dance Teaching is unregulated, people can, and do, set themselves up to teach dancing without holding Dance Teaching Qualifications – pupils are reassured to know that all classes and lessons are personally taught by Academy Principal – Dianne Ross who is a Fellow of The Northern Counties Dance Teachers Association and The United Kingdom Alliance of Professional Teachers of Dancing. Engaines School is a Foundation Primary School with places for a maximum of 270 children. Primarily we provide places for the children of families who live within our Parish Boundaries and these take up about 55% of the places available. Gillas Lane Primary develops a broad, relevant and engaging curriculum. It is planned with the view that children learn best when they can make connections in their learning and when they see purpose in what they are doing. Throughout school we develop thematic approaches and learning is enhanced by going on educational visits and having visitors into school. We offer a range of extra curricular clubs and activities which take place before and after school. Clubs on offer include Football, Games, Brass Tuition, Choir, Origami, Dance and Crafts. Years 5 and 6 children have an annual residential visit to Derwent Hill, an outdoor centre, where children partake in activities such as canoeing and climbing.
Ipplepen Primary School is very fortunate in occupying one of the most spacious and attractive sites in the whole of Devon, with a large playground, extensive playing field and an environmental area with pond. We have seven classes, one for each year group, a computer suite with 17 computers, a library and a large hall which can easily accommodate the whole school for assemblies and has ample room for drama, music, P.E. and dance.
Lordship Farm opened as a County, co-educational day primary school in April 1973. The buildings were designed to house four open plan classrooms and over the years the school has expanded with classrooms being added in 2000 and 2002. In September 1997 Lordship Farm Voluntary Aided Nursery School became a part of the school. There is a large hall, equipped for PE which is used for assemblies, drama and music. There is a separate dining area, computer suite and central library . Outside there is an extensive playing field and two playgrounds. At the south eastern boundary there is a large area set aside as a wild conservation area and a large pond and bird hide. The school is well resourced and all classes have access to laptops and Interactive whiteboards.
We have had two extremely successful OfSTED inspections - the terms they described us in can not be bettered. We are very proud that we have a very strong Arts curriculum - we have the Gold Arts Mark - and provide a rich and varied range of extra-curricular activities including two modern foreign languages. But OfSTED itself is not the only reason why our school is so successful. Some of the other reasons can be found in our Prospectus or in the other Wrap-Around Care we provide, the Clubs and Sports we provide or even our latest project; Sharec@re. These are so very important too. However, the best asset that a school has are the people who work within it and our staff are exceptional. Their time, energy and commitment that they give to every child could not be bettered.
Children have access to all elements of the National Curriculum regardless of gender, faith or disability. Music tuition is offered via the Cornwall Music Service and all Year 3/4 children play the cornet. Children have attended O/E residential (Y5/6), have weekly French lessons, written and performed operas with the Royal Opera House, displayed Art at the Village Exhibition and taken part in a number of visits. 'Special Events' have included music concerts in the local area - both as performers and audience, trips to theatre performances, visits to Eden and various class trips linked to curricular themes.

The school was established in 1981 in Drury Lane, and in 1983 moved to a former 1880’s church school building in Marylebone. In July 2010 we moved to our new premises in Nutford Place, just off Seymour Place in W1. The Drama Place is a fun filled workshop where students can learn through creative play. It is run primarily by Donnaleigh Bailey of BBC award winning Medical Drama 'Doctors' Fame. Classes are also led by Guest Leaders, such as Naomi Bently (primevil), Leah Hackett (hollyoaks) and Wela Frasier (RSC). The Drama Place only uses leading professional actors. We know the business, it is our business, and between us we have nominations and awards ranging from Lawrence Olivier awards to British Soap Awards.
