If appropriate, all children are able to access these and those who do have a considerable amount of pride and increase in self esteem at their achievement. The school is sponsored by a local ‘Swallows and Amazons’ group to take a residential group of KS2 children to the Calvert Trust outdoor education centre in the Lake District. When this started, parents were very nervous about the children going away from home. Their view is now revised when they see the amount of excitement the children have at their achievement and their increase in independence and self esteem.
