Oak View is a medium secure hospital that provides a safe environment for the assessment, treatment and care of up to 17 young people, aged 12 to 18 (male or female), who have been detained under the Mental Health Act. The facility is in a pleasant semi-rural location, less than 3 1/2 miles from the M25 and within an hour of central London by train. Each young person at Oak View is assigned to a care team, with a named Key Worker. In collaboration with the young person, their care team will draw up an individual plan for them. Being part of the process helps the young person to understand and be actively involved in their health care on an ongoing basis. Oak View recognises the importance of the family unit and is committed to working closely with family members and carers for the long-term benefit of the young people in its care. Treatment programmes include whole family meetings and parent counselling.

KIF (Kent Information Federation) a charity, closed on the 28th February 2006. KIF started in 1991, as one of the pilot schemes in the National Disability Information Project, funded by the Department of Health. It relied on funding from a variety of sources including KCC Social Services Directorate. KIF’s project funders included Lloyds TSB, the Community Fund and Urban Thames Gateway. KIF services were available across Kent and Medway. KIF built up expertise over 14 years of developing and providing an information service, and specifically an information database. During that time KIF kept abreast of developments in the information field that influenced the provision of information recognising, for example, the growth in the use of the internet as an information source; the trend for centralised databases, which KIF had long-endorsed; and the trend for centralised government-led information services, such as NHS Direct.
