Phonecell is a system that provides wireless fixed line telephone services in remote areas using existing cellular infrastructure. Phone, fax & computer modem links are readily available in locations where traditional cable connection is not practical or economically viable. Phonecell is available in all cellular formats: GSM; AMPS; CDMA: ETACS etc. Although many minor variations exist in each of the different formats, there are principally two different versions: One for voice only, and one that carries voice plus fax & data (VFD). The GSM version the Phonecell utilises an integral 8 watt transceiver, which, with the standard 6 dB marine grade antenna system gives an effective output of 25 watts. In areas of poor signal, the installation of a directional yagi antenna will boost effective radiated power to 125 watts. The GSM model also contains two sealed lead acid batteries which will provide continued operation in the event of power failure.
