Each person has access to our Rehabilitation Practitioners who together with specialised support staff focus on maximising people’s abilities and teaching new skills to enhance the quality of life.
A colourful environment which provides an ideal location for an extensive range of learning and leisure activities for visually impaired adults with additional disabilities. It is ideal for young adults making the transition from an educational environment and who want to develop their personal and social skills. We support each individual to identify their own abilities, needs and preferences. A tailored a support plan is then created reflecting each person’s choices. We regularly review these to ensure our service is responsive to any changing needs and wishes.
Thorough assessments are essential to match the needs and support requirements of each person, with the right type of support which is flexible and can be adapted as required. 24 hour support, including waking night provision, is available. Situated in the its local community, eight one bedroom flats, enabling individuals to live independently in their own rented accommodation. We provide a specialist and individual support service to those who live here with a visual impairment and learning disability, promoting daily life skills to encourage greater independence.
A welcoming, light and airy modern home with our trademark emphasis on light and colour contrasts throughout to assist seven young adults with a range of needs including visual impairment, autism, cerebral palsy and learning disabilities. The emphasis is on a ‘can do’ attitude to encourage daily living skills both within the home and in the local community where local retailers and the community are helpful.

Today this approach is called ‘personalisation’ – something that all Making Space services strive to deliver with dignity, compassion, humanity and, whenever appropriate, a sense of humour. Throughout England and Wales more than 800 people are directly employed by Making Space in providing the most appropriate care services to assist with the wellbeing of people affected by mental ill health, dementia or learning disabilities. These include family intervention services, employment, education and day services, supported housing, care homes, residential accommodation, clinical services, computerised cognitive behavioural therapy (CCBT) and services like training and respite breaks for carers whose lives are often deeply affected too.
