The college has state of the art facilities including the Alan Ayckbourn Theatre, Ashfields restaurant, Hair & Beauty salon, spa and nail bar, a 3G sports pitch and multi-use games area, engineering and construction workshops, art & design studios and a Learning Centre on three floors equipped with the latest technology. York College is the largest provider of A Level and vocational programmes for 16 - 19 year olds in the region, offering over 40 A Level subjects and 80 vocational programmes. The college also offers a range of Higher Education courses for full and part-time study as well as many Adult Learning classes.

Ranking in the top ten colleges in the country for its impressive A Level achievement, York College’s results have been above the national average for sixteen consecutive years . This year the college celebrated its best ever A Level results, with an overall pass rate of 99.1%. An impressive 59 A* grades were achieved and six students gained the necessary grades to go to either Oxford or Cambridge universities. Also, students studying vocational programmes achieved an impressive 178 triple distinctions (equivalent to three A's at A Level). York College has consistently maintained a high standard of achievement due to the highest quality of teaching and learning by tutors who are experts in their specialist subjects. This is underpinned by a strong pastoral and support system focussed on the individual needs of students. York College provides excellent preparation for university and this year in excess of 900 students submitted university applications. The college also offers specific support to students aiming for top universities, including an opportunity to study the Extended Project Qualification, a nationally recognised qualification worth up to 70 UCAS points.
