WOODHOUSE WEST PRIMARY SCHOOL

There are a varied set of after school and lunchtime clubs such as dance, ICT, football etc. Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 children present the Nativity and Christmas shows. Year 5 and 6 children always have an end of year show.  Children have the opportunity to showcase their work in Dance and Music to parents. The school has a school choir and a strings group which compete in local competitions and perform in concerts outside school. We have a regular programme of visiting theatre and music groups, and take part in the Sheffield Children's Festival. Outdoor trips are a vital part of our work in bringing the curriculum work to life.  This includes local day trips to Sheffield Botanical Gardens and Mayfield Ourdoor Education Centre as well as trips further afield to Jorvik, York and Crich Transport Museum in Derbyshire.  It also includes residential visits by Y2 to Whirlow Hall Farm and Y6 to Thornbridge Outdoor Centre in Derbyshire. The school benefits from the input of local professional football clubs in sports lessons. The school encourages participation in fun and charity events and raises a considerable ammount of money for charity during the year.
