WILLINGTON PRIMARY SCHOOL

We try to enhance our curriculum in many ways. This year we had a themed week on 'Great Britain' a themed week on 'Safety' which included water, road and personal safety. In addition a 'Science' week was held. One class became forensic experts and solved a murder, whilst other classes concentrated on very practical activities.  Rammie (the Derby County Mascot) visited school to promote reading and a Book fair was held in school. All Key Stage 2 children  learn Spanish. Trips out of school included visits to Conkers, Snibston, Pickford House and the Space Centre and all these trips supported the relevant curriculum areas. We also have extra curricular activities which have included cycling proficiency, First Aid Club, Recorder Club, Sports Club, Craft Club, Gardening Club, Board Games Club andScience club.  Our School Band performed a concert for parents at the end of the school year. We are very grateful to 'Friends of Willington Primary School' for their fundraising which paid for the Trim Trail. They organised a Treasure Hunt around the village and a 'Pirate Day' was held in school, in addition to cake sales, discos and the Summer and Christmas Fairs.
