WHSMITH HIGH STREET

This year, WHSmith refreshed our community programme, embarking on new initiatives to promote literacy. These initiatives have been developed to better promote the love of reading and create lasting improvements in our local communities. In addition to the fund raising activities of our staff, we have for many years supported good causes through product sales. As well as providing charities with a financial contribution, the sales of these products also raise consumer awareness of the work these organisations do and help them to gain new supporters. We set and achieve an annual target to invest at least one per cent of our pre-tax profits in support of charities and community projects. In the coming year, we will continue to actively support local causes and organisations in the communities where we have stores. Our work to promote literacy and the love of reading will expand through our partnerships with the National Literacy Trust and WHSmith Group Charitable Trust.
