On the Rehabilitation Ward we have 32 beds for rehabilitation and palliative care; ages range from 18 upwards. Local GPs may admit people to these beds and they are also available for the transfer of patients from acute hospitals for rehabilitation prior to returning home.
Detailed description:
GP medical opinion is accessible for patients attending the Minor injuries Unit as required. On the Rehabilitation Ward, medical care is provided by GPs, with access to a Consultant Geriatrician for review. Out of hours medical cover is provided by Shropdoc. Rehabilitation ward - 32 beds predominantly for Rehabilitation and End of Life Care. Beech Mental Health Ward - a ward of 16 beds for elderly people with mental health problems. These beds are available for residents of North East Shropshire and referrals are made via Shelton Hospital. Medical care is provided by a Consultant Psychiatrist.
