If you're a customer - you're lucky. If you’re an employee - good luck!
I can’t recall any experience with Whitbread as a customer, but recently I had a rather doubtful pleasure to gain an experience of being an employee with Whitbread. I worked there through an employment agency as a kitchen porter. Throughout my entire shift I wasn’t offered anything to eat or to drink. Instead of that I had to watch as permanent staffs were enjoying their food and drinking countless cups of coffee – none of them offered me even a glass of water or asked if I’m alright. I was really shocked and disgusted by the way they can treat people who work for them, especially that in a big, well-known company you would expect to meet intelligent staff on a certain culture level, who know some basic rules of politeness. I felt really awful and rejected in there – especially that my English friend who worked for them as a kitchen porter through the same employment agency before me, was offered tea and lunch. Preferences, or…? I didn’t agree to work in there as a Polish slave… If you’re a customer and pay Whitbread to treat you as a human being – you’re probably going to get a pleasant experience, but if you are a foreigner who wants to work for them – think twice.24/07/2011 00:39:18000
