Having taken my bike in to get it repaired, nothing major, slightly bent forks, broken brake lever and a new chain ring. I was told it would take two days and the estimated price was £60-70. It sounded good to me so I gave them my beloved bike to repair. After two days I phoned to see how they were getting on, I was told that they were bending the forks and it would be ready very soon. "Ok cool" I say "call me when its done". 3 more days go by and they never phoned back, so once again I call up, were just bending the forks he says, phone back tomorrow. Ok that's a bit weird, so clearly they were lying the previous time. I phone again the next day only to find they haven't ordered the breaks, and they will take another week to arrive. I tell them to call me when it is finished. finally after 15 days my bike was ready, when I go to pick up my bike the next day the price of the estimate has doubled to £128.
I was very angry about the service they provided, not once did they call me to let me know what was going on, after asking them to on several occasions. The mechanic had even took it upon himself to choose a new colour of bar tape to put on my handle bars, without ever consulting me!!!!. When I spoke to the manager and explained how upset I was with the service, he was as rude as his nose was long, making up terrible excuses and not apologising at all. he took £8 off the price and said it was the best he could do. His best advice was "next time go somewhere else". I always support my local businesses and was extremely upset and felt let down by the whole team at west end cycles.
My best advice for anyone taking a bike to get it repaired is to do as the manager of west end cycle says and GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.
