Volkswagen's relationship with the UK dates back to 1952, when the first two Beetles were sold. In 1953 Volkswagen Motors Ltd became the official UK importer, and the brand went from strength to strength. Volkswagen also centralised its operations in 1978, and moved into its headquarters in Blakelands, Milton Keynes.
From Blakelands the company controls sourcing, marketing and distribution of all vehicles and parts in the UK. Today Volkswagen UK, as part of the Volkswagen Group, is one of the country's largest importers of vehicles, employing nearly 600 people nationwide, with the Volkswagen brand employing 180 in Blakelands alone.
Volkswagen headquarters in Wolfsburg Germany is one of the largest and most advanced car factories in the world.

Our Golf BlueMotion for example, is currently one of the most fuel efficient cars of it class, with CO2 emissions of just 99g/km thanks to its start/stop technology and regenerative braking. We also use recycled and recyclable materials where possible and the most environmentally friendly construction techniques.
A car doesn't just have an impact on the environment when it's being driven on the road. So when you decide to drive one of our cars you can feel you're making a choice for a better future, too. Our cars are designed to have the lowest possible impact on the environment at all stages - when we make them, while they're on the road and at the end of their lives. Careful selection of recycled and recyclable materials, optimised construction techniques and the labelling of plastic parts with their material type all mean our cars can be recycled as efficiently as possible.
We also take back a large range of used parts from vehicle repairs and remanufacture on an industrial scale. These parts are sold across the world with a full manufacturer's guarantee under the name Genuine Parts.
