Detailed description:
The Company was originally known as Leesons & Vokins and was founded in 1882, occupying a retail shop in North Street, Brighton, just down from Ship Street. Over the next 42 years, the trading partnership acquired a considerable number of freehold properties in Brighton town centre as its retail base expanded. In 1924, the Partnership was dissolved by the division of the trading outlets. By 1935, several of the smaller properties had been amalgamated to form a department store, which commenced trading as W H Vokins Limited in 1937. The trading name continued in use until 1983, when the Company changed its name to the current Vokins Limited. In 1997, the department store was closed, as it was too small to meet the trading requirements of the time. It was decided to restructure the Company and focus on the developing furniture and bed business. Since opening in 1985, the Furniture and Beds Superstore in Hove has been considerably extended from a selling space of some 10, 000 square feet to the current retail showroom of 22, 000 square feet. Today, Vokins Limited is the largest furniture and beds centre in the Brighton and Hove area, located on an edge-of-town site on the Sackville Trading Estate, off Sackville Road, Hove. A second Sussex superstore was opened in Eastbourne at Admiral Retail Park, on Lottbridge Drove in August 2002.

Christopher LattaWe recently purchased a Parker Knoll Albany suite from the Eastbourne branch, unfortunately when it was delivered we noticed that the 2 and 3 seater had some marks on the leather, Vokins service was really excellent they did everthing they could to remedy the situation and kept us fully informed at all times, the 3 seater was very professionally repaired on site and the 2 seater replaced from the factory. I cannot praise highly enough the actions of the staff at Eastbourne who dealt with this matter.12/18/2010 3:10:07 PM

TAITDear Mr. Vokin, a short note to thank you for the service and attention my wife and myself received with your company. It was one of those sales if any thing could go wrong it did. May I add at no stage were these problems generated by your company but by the company that made the furniture Vokins slogged on to get this order completed which in the end was succesful in the process not once did you tire of this task and acted in a professional manner. The national firms I am sure would not have been so persistent once again. Thank you for your efforts which by many firms to-day do not know the word satisfaction.
