Uplands Junior School, Wolverhampton
Description Uplands Junior School, Wolverhampton
At Uplands we offer a broad and balanced curriculum. Classroom work is extended through visits to places of interest. In 2007-2008 all children participated in at least one visit. Children in Year 6 are also able to take part in a residential visit to an outdoor adventure centre. We have achieved 'Active Mark' status in recognition of our commitment to providing two hours of high quality P.E. weekly. We participate in a wide range of sporting fixtures against other schools in the local authority. Modern foreign languages are taught in all year groups. Strings, brass and woodwind tuition is available in school and a school orchestra has been formed. We place emphasis on the visual arts and hope to achieve Artsmark status shortly.
During the course of the 2007-2008 academic year the following extra-curricular activities have taken place:
Young Engineers Club
Hand Chimes Club
Year 6 Spanish Club
Outside providers have run twice weekly football clubs, cricket club and dodge ball club. Outside providers, 'Schoolfriends', run an after-school club caring for children from 3.15 pm until 6 pm each day.
