UK MEDIA DESK

The UK MEDIA Team helps to promote and administer the European Union's MEDIA Programme in the UK. It consists of the MEDIA Desk UK (in London), MEDIA Antenna Scotland, and MEDIA Antenna Wales. MEDIA is a support programme of the European Union to strengthen the competitiveness of the European film, TV and new media industries and to increase the international circulation of European audiovisual product.

MEDIA 2007 commenced on 1 January 2007 and will run to 31 December 2013. MEDIA 2007 supports professional training (screenwriting, business and new technologies), project development (single/slate), and the distribution and promotion of European audiovisual works. Independent production and distribution companies can apply for development or distribution funding in the form of non-repayable grants. Financial assistance is available for training providers and organisers of markets and festivals. Individuals may also benefit from subsidised places on training courses and international markets. Support is available for production and new media companies, sales agents, distributors, festival and market organisers, training providers and exhibitors. The MEDIA Programme offers many different funding schemes, each targeting different areas of the audiovisual sector. We have schemes for producers, distributors, sales agents, organisers of training courses, operators in new digital technologies, operators of VoD platforms, exhibitors and organisers of festivals, markets and promotional events. The MEDIA Programme supports over 60 different training activities in a number of different areas; Management, New Technologies and Screenwriting.
