  I have now had 2 evening meals and one sunday lunch at the Halfway Inn and as my parents used to run the pub in the mid 60's and I used to work with them obviously I take an interest in the improvements they have recently made. The alterations are excellent creating a great atmosphere and taking advantage of the lovely views. As for the food and service both have been first class. The food choice is good and the proof really is in the eating - all our meals were delicoius. I stongly recommend the Halfway Inn.

  It would be hard for me to say anything about the food at the Halfway Inn because the person who "greeted" us so was sarcastic, pompous and rude to us that we didn't stay. When we came in we tried getting someone to seat us but there was no one around, at a lunchtime on a Wednesday, so we made our way to a vacant table only to have a waitress rush up from where she had been hiding and order us to " Just wait, this is a restaurant you know". When I said that there had been no one around to serve us she said in a very patronising way " you see that person over there? she is a member of staff and she's very busy" We asked for a table for two and after glaring first at us and then around the HALF EMPTY room she said huffily " I supposed I will have to put you on a larger table - sigh". She then showed us to the same table for 4 that we'd selected and slammed about clearing away the better placings so that we had the cramped seats away from the window. That was enough for us and we left. There was no one to speak to about it and she didn't seem interested however I did tell her why we were leaving so at least she knows!! We went elsewhere and had a very nice meal

  • Debbielan: Half Way Inn was sheer delight. The food was faultless as were the staff. The staff were friendly and professional and we will certainly eat there again.
  • J Parsons:I completely agree with this review. We did a silly thing, after being given similar treatment by the restuarant manager of staying and had a very bad meal. Wish I read your review first and went to the Aylesbeare Inn (as someone said I should have done)
