The Centre for Cellular and Molecular Physiology (CCMP) is a close-knit group of researchers working together in a state-of-the-art laboratory on the Old Road Campus site in Oxford: the Henry Wellcome Building for Molecular Physiology (HWBMP). The HWBMP is adjacent to the Churchill Hospital, and is well placed for interactions with those working in the adjacent Henry Wellcome Building of Human Genetics, the new Old Road Campus Research Building and the Clinical Department of the Churchill Hospital.

Company description
The ethos of the building is that the bringing together of groups using different scientific approaches will facilitate the development of new collaborative ways to address important questions. This creates a highly interactive and dynamic scientific grouping and makes HWBMP an exciting place to do biomedical science. By pooling their expertise, the groups have been able to tackle important problems in ways that would not otherwise be straightforward.
The scientific focus of the building is based on programmes of research led by clinician scientists working in kidney medicine and non-clinical groups with expertise in proteomics and computational structural biology. Each group uses complementary approaches cutting across conventional boundaries in biomedical science to accelerate progress (see public engagement and research groups).
The breadth of experience in different genetic, proteomic, structural and functional strategies provides a critical mass that strengthens and optimises common approaches in the translation of genetics, cellular and molecular biology to medical problems (see key expertise in the building).
