Independant information, advice and support for individual entrepeneurs and businesses in Kent and South East England. Technology Enterprise Kent (TEK) is a non-profit making organisation, offering impartial information and advice to support individual entrepreneurs, innovators, new business start ups and established businesses in Kent and South East England. In pursuing this goal, TEK works closely with individuals, small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), regional development agencies, local government, universities, research institutes, technology providers and innovation supply chain practitioners. TEK also works with the European Union, undertaking Research & Technology Development (RTD) projects that serve to quantify how SMEs assimilate and respond to the ever-changing environment in which they operate.
Detailed description:
Encourage and support start-ups, micro and technology based businesses that can add value to the local economy and create employment opportunities for local people. Co-ordinate provision and management of incubator units for local businesses, including technology based and other high growth start-ups. Help foster greater social and economic inclusion in East Kent through encouragement for e-business and innovative business practices, and by providing capacity building support for community economic development initiatives. Improve the competitive performance of local businesses through supply chain and supplier development support for key sectors and the innovation supply chain and by encouraging clustering of technology based firms. Maintain the long standing reputation for excellence in business support, through the development of systems and the introduction of best practice, to provide an efficient business support network and ensure the financial viability of the company.
