Stephens Engineering was established back in 1968 by the owner and working proprietor Mr Bill Stephens. Transmissions in those days were relatively simple in construction and needed only a competent mechanic to overhaul efficiently. It did not take long however for the modest automatic to evolve into the sophisticated state of the art transmission that we know today.
Electronics are combined with hydraulics and sensors, which are frequently coupled to the vehicles on board computer or E.C.U. It has been our experience as automatic gearbox specialists, that over recent years it is essential to back a highly qualified team of engineers with the most high tech equipment, and this year we have installed from America two Test and Simulator Machines.
This enables us to run the automatic gearboxes under road conditions using hydraulic pressures and switchable currents and loads to pin-point any possible weakness either now or more importantly in months to come.

As automatic gearbox specialists, we provide our very own specialist repair and fault finding service for most automatic transmissions. We believe that running diagnostics and finding the fault within your automatic transmission is very important. This is due to the fact that, transmissions, engine management and electronic control units are ever changing and continue to develop. Stephens Engineering uses the latest diagnostics procedures and technology to help us to find faults. This has been tried and tested as the best way in which to find the problem so we can get to work quickly and solve the fault.
If you are having a problem with your cars automatic transmission, then with the continuing investment in the latest technology and diagnostic equipment, we can help find that the fault and fix the problem as soon as possible. Providing you with MOT and servicing, while you wait. We believe in preventing the problem from occurring and therefore, recommend that you have your air conditioning and automatic transmission serviced every two years. Prevention of seals drying out, moisture collecting and filters blocking will be cheaper then finding a major fault later and having to replace the part.
We have a fully equipped on-site engineering department that are able to fully re-condition and refine all automatic transmission parts. We fully re-condition all parts of automatic transmissions to original manufacturing specifications. We can replace your faulty transmission with one that we have re-created. We only use the original manufacturers as our suppliers, to ensure you receive the highest quality parts.
