St. Mary's offers a broad & balanced curriculum. The school has achieved the Sportsmark for schools and takes part in a variety of tournaments and inter-school leagues. As part of the Kirkley Sports partnership, pre and after school clubs are offered (gymnastics, badminton, football, netball) on a rota basis throughout the school year.
All pupils from Year 1 to Year 5 enjoy a term of swimming lessons at local pools.There is a specialist music teacher, and the school choir have performed at the Schools' Music Festival at Snape. Year 6 pupils receive intstrumental tuition on the guitar.Residential experiences are in place for pupils in Years 5 and 6. All classes enjoy end of term trips & other visits to support curriculum topics.Modern Foreign Languages are taught in school, Spanish in Years 3 & 4, and French in Years 5 & 6.
The school works closely with Notre Dame High School who have a specialist school status for languages.Visits to Notre Dame to work in a specialist Science laboratory designated 'A classroom of the future' are part of a new inititaive and outreach work with shared resources is in place.The local environment provides a rich opportunity for outdoor learning. The beach, river and town are all easily accessible.
