Oxhey Wood Primary School are committed to all the children achieving and reaching their full potential. Detailed description:
Oxhey Wood is a very well-resourced school. The large site provides grassed areas for outdoor activities, two large playgrounds, and an enclosed play area for nursery and reception children.
The site lies in the middle of a housing development, but to the east lies the wildlife haven of Pond Wood. The school buildings are surrounded by grass and trees, and many woodland birds visit from the nearby tree cover.
The building is elongated and is much larger that it appears from the front. Inside the building, classes are grouped into age-related areas.
There are two large halls for assemblies and PE activities, and a number of specialist classrooms for design and technology, art, cookery, ICT and special needs. We have a beautiful nursery, which came into operation during 2006. We also have a community room and have provided accommodation for a pre-school and an opportunity class.
Next to the junior hall is a library area, which children can use to change their books.
As well as a large ICT suite and a second smaller suite, each class has an interactive whiteboard and a projector and at least two computers, together with the teacher's laptop. There is one computer for every three children at the school.
The school has excellent teaching resources and plenty of books and equipment for teaching and learning.
