In our work we put our communities first - we want to be there when victims need us the most and when criminals don't. But, most importantly, we want people to be safe and feel safe whether they are in their homes, on the streets or at work in our county.

The Constabulary polices an area of 632 square miles, with a population of well over a million. The mix of villages and towns, with some of the busiest roads in Europe, place a variety of demands on the police. The county's landscape is also diverse ranging from the urban borders of London to beautiful National Trust areas.

Headquarters in Welwyn Garden City provides a support and administrative function for the Constabulary and is the base for Chief Constable Frank Whiteley and his executive team. Policing of the county is overseen by the Local Policing Command (LPC) Team.

The Constabulary, policing style and organisation is designed to provide a modern, flexible force and an effective policing service for Hertfordshire.

More locally based Neighbourhood Teams work in local partnerships at ward district and borough council level.

Working with these other agencies and the public, we have achieved some excellent results. Our low crime rate means we are one of the safest counties in England and Wales.
