OLDFIELD BROW PRIMARY SCHOOL

Short profile:

We have had two extremely successful OfSTED inspections - the terms they described us in can not be bettered. We are very proud that we have a very strong Arts curriculum - we have the Gold Arts Mark - and provide a rich and varied range of extra-curricular activities including two modern foreign languages.

But OfSTED itself is not the only reason why our school is so successful. Some of the other reasons can be found in our Prospectus or in the other Wrap-Around Care we provide, the Clubs and Sports we provide or even our latest project; Sharec@re. These are so very important too.

However, the best asset that a school has are the people who work within it and our staff are exceptional. Their time, energy and commitment that they give to every child could not be bettered.

Detailed description:

The school hall is the very centre of the school in more ways than one. Depending on when you visit us it's the Breakfast Club or the place for our daily assemblies. It's also the dining hall and where our wonderful school productions take place every term.

It's also where parties can take place by hiring the hall yourself.

But most of all it's a place for celebrating all the fantastic achievements made by the children. We hold this special type of assembly every Friday at 2.40pm.

Our school is made up of seven classes. The Nursery and Reception (Class A) make up the Foundation stage. (3 to 5 year olds), Classes B and C are the Key Stage One classes. (5 to 7 year olds), Classes D, E and F are the Key Stage Two classes. (7 to 11 year olds).

Each class is taught by a qualified teacher who works with at least one other classroom assistant in the room. We believe that the staff within the school are the best resource that a child can enjoy and learn from.

This means that – on average – each Oldfield Brow child is part of a class with an adult:child ratio of 12:1. This means that every child receives more individual attention than could normally be expected.

Mrs Hodgkinson loves the outdoors and especially walking her dog. She’s a person who loves learning and would like to learn a foreign language. She enjoys working alongside the children and getting to know their parents too. Her favourite sport is tennis but also admits to be strangely drawn to the Italian national football team!

There’s always something new and exciting happening at Oldfield Brow! We aim to make sure that there’s something that every one can enjoy when they’ve finished their lessons.
