Short profile:

The Old Doctor Butlers Head, named after the court physician to James I, is a traditional pub in the heart of the City with a rich history and reputation for warm hospitality spanning four centuries.

Detailed description:

The pub was established in 1610 but had to be rebuilt after the Great Fire of 1666. It is the last of a number of taverns named after Dr Butler who specialised in bizarre "cures" for nervous disorders, including dropping patients through a trapdoor in London Bridge and plunging plague victims into cold water. A more enjoyable experience awaits visitors today. The bar, restaurant and function room offer a wide choice of traditional English food, cask ales, international lagers and wines in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
