Short profile:

The Official Solicitor and the Public Trustee are independent statutory office holders. Their office (OSPT) is an arms length body of the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) that exists to support their work. The Official Solicitor and the Public Trustee each have a number of separate functions, although their respective trusts, estates and deputyships are managed by the same team. The services they each provide can be best understood by reference to their respective statutory duties and functions.

Detailed description:

The Official Solicitor, by providing front line services, provides access to the justice system to those who are vulnerable by virtue of minority or lack of mental capacity where that is needed. In so doing the Official Solicitor mitigates Our aim is to provide a high standard of service in our dealings with you. If you are dissatisfied in any way with the way in which this office and its staff have dealt with your case, please let us know as soon as possible. As well as trying to resolve any particular problems, this gives us an opportunity to examine the services we are providing, and to consider making improvements. All complaints will receive a written response within 15 days. Complaints should be made, in writing, to the Complaints Officer at the address above. You can also email your complaint to us - emailed complaints have the same 15 day target for response
