NEWHAM PSYCHOLOGICAL THERAPIES

We are an NHS service. We aim to try to get you the help you need within days rather than weeks or months. If we cannot help you ourselves, we will do everything we can to make sure that you get the right help from the right people. The Newham Psychological Services was formed in April 2010 which integrated existing Primary Care Psychological Services, Newham IAPT Service (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies) and Secondary Care Psychological Services. The service was integrated to ensure a single point of referral and provide easier access to therapies for people experiencing psychological difficulties.

Newham Psychological Services has meant providing a service which consists of an assessment by a psychological therapist within days of receiving the referral. It has also meant developing services which serve the community and which are in response to what you have told us. E.g. Out of hours services, flexibility of appointment type, and the service being available in community settings.

The evidence suggests that the choice of intervention is important to a successful outcome. For example, enabling individuals to choose what sort of intervention they want improves the effectiveness of that intervention. Currently we have over 50 therapists working throughout Newham delivering the services you have asked for, in a way that suits you.
