My mother who was blind and had issues walking unaided was admitted to give my father respite care. She was there for a week. I did not see many other inmates at meal times and assumed they were all in care in their rooms. My mother had no help feeding herself or help to drink anything and was left sitting alone in the lounge without any company at all! I can't imagine how scary it was for her. She did not know the layout of the home or anyone there. They had male attendants two very young men from Latvia who she couldn't understand. When she asked for the rest room a young man came to attend to her and I sent him away requesting a female nurse. My mother had no real care and no dignity was afforded to her. One visitor attending her own mother everyday pulled me aside and told me not to leave my mother there as they wouldn't help her. Quite shocking!
