In 1949 Don Roberto Gonzalez and his father formed Gruma S.A. in Monterrey, Mexico. Gruma quickly revolutionized the corn flour and tortilla industry. A new milling process was developed that replaced the centuries old stone grinding process. In 1977, Mission Foods was created as the tortilla subsidiary of Gruma SA de CV.

Acquisition of new production facilities - Roermond (The Netherlands) in 2004, Ceggia (Italy) in 2004 and Seaham (UK) in 2006 - enabled us to create and meet an increasing demand for flat bread products here in Europe.
