A Welsh designer who's fashion education started in London at the prestigious St Martin’s school of art, one of the Uk’s leading fashion colleges. She specialised in bridal & evening wear design. An influential college, it’s name brought her invaluable training in knowledge of cut, proportion, and balance within design from some of London’s and the UK’s leading designers.
Detailed description:
At her final year show, after achieving her BA Hons,she accepted a job offer as an assistant designer at Berketex Bridal, which enabled her to fine tune the wear ability of her designs in the marketplace.
When she finally decided to leave Berketex, it was to open her first Designer shop in Swansea 1987, then another in Cardiff 1990 specialising in glamorous bridal and evening wear. She wanted to create affordable couture gowns as well as an off the peg range, and was commissioned for many society, star and sport star weddings, and Opera gowns. Her aim was to give an elegant design and structure, with good personal service. She was invited to do many special fashions shows, with her flamboyant evening wear collections all over Wales.
After having her son in 1993, she took a break from couture so as to allow her more personal time. Deciding to concentrate on the organisation and running of her busy machine department and shop floor sales. This period gave her invaluable insight into what brides actually want from the bridal experience, as well as in fit, design and alteration needs. She was able to see the retail problems that may occur with the Bridal trade and most importantly, good customer care.
