  I wouldn't recommend this livery stables to any horse owner in york. After spending a few years with the previous poprietor, the lush grazing and care free atmosphere, I was really dissapointed when the current proprietor took over. Millfield stables is over horsed, over grazed, neglected fencing. The fencing of which usually has to be repaired by the liveries. There is four horses to an acre paddock (which should be grass but is now mud, thistles and ragwort). The riding facilities are a bit useless. There is two small and uneven arenas to ride in, filled with homemade and possibly dangerous jumps with nails hanging out everywhere. The WC facilities is a shed with a toilet which has never seen bleach and is usually blocked. The tackroom and sheds are not secure and have previously been broken into. The insurance did not cover our loss of tack as the buildings were not classed as secure. The yard itself is like a school playground, novice unsupervised children everywhere. Not to mention the "help themselves" people who "borrow" your feed/rugs/equiptment/bedding. Not failing to mention the very loud and busy iron workshop onsite, which is run by a man with no clue of safety for people and animals. The full livery option is a no go. I wouldn't recommend this unless you want your horse to lose half its bodyweight. Overall, Millfield livery stables used to be an excellent livery stables, but now in the hands of a greedy novice, and not a very nice place to be at all.10/11/2010 5:50:17 PM
