Detailed description:
Being an independent charitable organisation with sufficient resources to sustain and develop our services to meet the needs of individuals affected by bipolar today and tomorrow. Established in 1983 MDF The Bipolar Organisation is the national user-led charity for individuals whose lives are affected by bipolar. MDF Bipolar aims to enable people affected by bipolar to take control of their lives through the range of services we offer.
These include: Information, guidance and publications; a national network of self-help groups; a dedicated Helpline for members of the charity, open 8am to 8pm seven days a week; self management training programme; Bipolar Link - a pioneering project working directly with psychiatric units in Wales; the widely acclaimed quarterly bipolar journal Pendulum; comprehensive website including our e-community; annual conference; London Youth - a pilot service working directly with young people commencing in 2011. We also seek to combat the stigma and prejudice experienced by those affected by bipolar We campaign for improved services and give members a forum to express their views and experiences.
We work to develop partnerships with other organisations concerned with mental health. We work to educate employers, health care professionals and local communities about bipolar.
