Marrs Leather Shops was founded in 1976, when Alan, (the founder) was trying to buy a leather coat for his wife Vivienne and found that nobody could explain to him why two similar garments in different shops could be twice the price in one and not the other. Alan researched and found that as in so many things in life all things are not equal and that was especially true of leather. Why could you find grannies old Victorian handbag in perfect condition in the back of the wardrobe when the bag bought a few years ago (sometimes for a fortune) looks so tatty so quickly?

The answer lies of course in the leather being tanned properly, selected carefully and fabricated by skilled craftsmen. Not easy to achieve, but working initially with the leather institute, it was found to be possible to source for our customers top quality products without designer prices.
