Short profile:

The company was established in Bologna in 1952 by Mr. Mario Possati (1922-1990): he had the idea of making the first in-process equipment for checking parts during grinding, allowing improvements in the quality and quantity of parts made by machine tools. It was an immediate success.

In 1962, ten years after it was established, having gained a good share of the domestic market, the company opened its first office abroad, in Germany.

In 1963 Marposs crossed the ocean to the United States. The main factory today is located at Auburn Hills, on the outskirts of Detroit, the American motor car capital.

In 1970, after eighteen years of business, Marposs opened its first office in Japan.

This was the starting point of the penetration into the Asian market, beginning with China and Korea in the mid-'80s.

Marposs is now present directly with its own sales and service organization in many countries and has a network of agents and distributors in other countries.

Detailed description:

Marposs offers the following applications for machine tools:

For grinders: in-process and post-process measuring systems, wheel balancers and monitoring sensors.

For lathes & turning centers: measurement and check solutions for part inspection, for tool calibration and check, for process monitoring and for dimensional measurement with dedicated post-process stations.

For machining & milling centers: systems for part inspection with different wireless transmission technologies, tool measurement and check systems with touch and touchless techniques, solutions for process monitoring and for dimensional measurement onboard the machine.

For transfer lines: complete line of standard and special measuring plugs, using either touch, pneumatic or hybrid technologies. The result of the measurement is used for the tool correction, making it possible to reduce scraps and costs.

Furthermore Marposs is able to offer measurement and check solutions for other machine tools, such as: drilling and tapping machines, boring machines, sharpeners, gear cutters, EDM, machines for stonework, glasswork, woodwork.

Marposs offers the following components to build gauging stations:

Probes and measurement transmission systems: mechanical components and transducers required to make the measuring equipment.

Indicators and display units: mechanical and electronic units to elaborate and display the measurements.

Data acquisition systems: interface boxes between the transducers (analog and digital) and the industrial PC (Marposs or commercial) which processes the measurements.

Signal converters: equipment to convert the transducer signals before the electronic unit which processes the measurements.

SPC and quality control software: software for statistical process and quality control.
