Detailed description:
For the last two years we have been funded for the Wider Opportunities Music Programme which means that all children in Year 4 receive muscianship lessons and then whole class instrumental lessons.Although this has been guitar lessons, violin lessons will commence in Autumn 2007. We have a wide range of clubs provided by school staff i.e.Chess, French, Craft, Healthy cookery, Netball, Cricket, Football, Rugby, Choir and Film making.There are also clubs provided by the Sports Co-ordinator Scheme such as Street Dance, Gymnastics and Basket ball. The Art Co-ordinator escorted goups of older pupils to Master Classes at Somerset House as an enrichment activity.
Children have a wide range of responsibilities in school to develop their active citizenship skills and "make a positve contribution" aspect of the ECM agenda. Children have the opportunity to visit and purchase books from our Book fairs.
Our children who have English as a second language have nurture groups each week with a trained support assistant to improve vocabulary and confidence. We aim to provide a wide variety of interesting activities so that all children will enjoy and achieve while at Marks Gate Junior School.
