Short profile:
The CBT is a statutory requirement to validate your provisional licence.
The CBT was introduced in1990 to give new riders some basic knowledge and skills to enable them to ride unaccompanied on public roads more safely.
At MMTS we have qualified Instructors, both male and female, to guide students through the required elements and assist them achieve the required standard as set out by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA).
MMTS is a registered Charity and all our Instructors are volunteers, which means, we are not bound by the usual commercial restrictions and constraints, so students are able to developing their skills and confidence at their own pace
Detailed description:
The CBT consists of 5 elements, which are:
Element A- Introduction this includes an overview of the course with discussions on protective gear and an eye sight check.
Element B- Off road training which includes routine daily checks, machine controls, wheeling the machine around, using the brakes etc.
Element C - On site riding where you will develop your riding skills in simulated situations in the safety of our private training area. You will learn to ride in a straight line, slow machine control, using the brakes amongst other things.
Element D - Class room riding theory. During this element you will learn about Roadcraft and be provided with an insight into how you should conduct yourself on the public roads including the Highway Code.
Element E- On road training. During this section you will put everything you’ve learned into practise on the public roads accompanied by your qualified Instructor.
