MAIDENHEAD AQUATICS - CARDIFF

To the north of Cardiff near the picturesque Castle Coch, this branch is situated a few minutes from junction 32 of the M4 just off the A470. As one of our biggest shops, this branch is truly an aquatic superstore and has something for every fishkeeper.

Having recently enjoyed further development, the centrepiece of the fish area is a truly oceanic display tank worthy of a public aquarium. This remarkable aquarium measures 10.5' x 10.5' x 3' (3.8 x 3.8 x 0.9m) and holds in excess of 2000 gallons/9500 litres. Now completed, this is the largest marine display tank in any retail store and proves to be a breathtaking spectacle now matured and stocked.

The extensive and well-stocked fish house caters for many areas of the hobby with both familiar and unusual community species displayed alongside a good range of african and neotropical cichlids including discus and dwarf cichlids. L number plecs, brackish fish and oddballs are also well represented. For the aquarium plant aficionado a wide range of choice species and cultivars is to be found. Resident 'tank-busters' such as adult Lungfish are also to be seen and are kept on the payroll as a deterrent to any hobbyist unaware of the long-term commitment keeping these characters entails. The planned installation of an indoor pool to house more of these leviathans is further testament to this stores' commitment to customer education and the problem of big fish in the aquarium hobby. A large dedicated system houses a varied selection of fancy goldfish with everything from hardy comets up to the more delicate pearlscales and orandas for the more experienced goldfish fanatic.

Marines are also something of a speciality here and great care is taken to aid customers in the selection of appropriate specimens for their aquarium. As with all of our stores dealing in marine livestock, only net-caught individuals are stocked and captive bred fishes including locally bred seahorses are always available.
