Short profile:

Students take part in a wide range of activities. In sport students take part in competitions in football, netball, rugby league, basketball, athletics and cross country. Drama is very successful with an annual production, often specially written for Longbenton students and some have even been published nationally. Music concerts are also put on regularly with students performing to a high standard. Lunchtime clubs cover a number of activities, including Christian Unions, computing, chess, art, design technology and textiles.

Residential activities also take place, including outdoor activity weekends and sailing trips. Foreign trips have also take place to France, Italy (for ski-ing), the United States and Kenya.

Students have a wide range of options at Key Stage 4. This includes the three separate sciences for the most able students in science. French and German are currently offered at Key Stage 4, although it is likely that Spanish will be added in 2010. Specialised Diplomas are also offered.
