Leicester Royal Infirmary is close to Leicester city centre. The hospital has more than 1000 beds and provides Leicestershire’s only accident and emergency service. It is the base for our Childrens' Hospital as well as an Out of Hours GP Service.
Leicester Royal Infirmary hosts one of the country's busiest emergency departments as well as a range of specialist services. It provides a range of patient-centred specialties including a children's hospital and cancer care. The hospital's new-look Emergency Department (ED) includes a range of specialist areas and a 24-hour Children's ED.
Cancer services are based at the purpose-built Osborne Centre, which is currently undergoing a multi-million programme to provide more state-of-the-art equipment which will improve care for patients across Leicestershire, Rutland and the neighbouring counties. The centre is part of the National Cancer Network. There is significant specialist support available through the palliative care service and Cancer Patient Information Centre.
Leicester Royal Infirmary's Childrens' Hospital provides care to children of all ages and a wide range of medical problems. The team of clinicians, nurses, play specialists and teachers is committed to providing the highest level of care and comfort for children whether in need of short or long term care.
