Short profile:
Please telephone before 10.00am to arrange a home visit. A doctor can see 3 or 4 patients in surgery in the time taken to do a home visit. Home visits are for those patients who are housebound or too ill to attend the surgery. Please give as much information as possible, i.e. symtoms, address and telephone number so that the doctor can give your request due priority.
A doctor or nurse may ring you at home to discuss your visit. Please telephone or call into surgery to make your appointment. We will try to offer an appointment with the doctor of your choice. Patients are allocated a 10 minute appointment with the Doctor.
This is for ONE problem only. If you think you will need more time with the GP or have an additional problem please let the receptionist know. Urgent cases needing attention the same day will be seen at the end of surgery by whichever doctor is available.
Detailed description:
We have a high demand for appointments. If you have a prior booked appointment and find you are unable to attend for any reason, please let us know as soon as possible so someone else may benefit. Many appointments have been wasted with patients failing to turn up for them. The Nurse Practitioner is a highly qualified and experienced nurse who is able to diagnose, treat and prescribe. Consult her as you would a GP. Her particular interests are ears, gynaecology and HRT. Telephone consultations are now being offered as an alternative to face to face consultations.
If you feel your problem can be managed via a telephone conversation (eg test results, medication queries) please ask the receptionist to book a telephone consultation. Telephone appointments with the doctors/nurses can be booked in the same way as traditional appointments. Please note, it is your responsibility to find out the results of tests. You will be provided with a slip when attending for your blood tests asking you to telephone into surgery for the results between 12noon and 1pm after one week for blood tests or two weeks for x-rays. You will then be advised what, if anything to do (e.g. repeat, see doctor etc.) We undertake teaching of GP registrars, Foundation Year 2 doctors, undergraduate medical students, student nurses and midwifery students.
They may be present during your consultation. Please help us to train the health professionals of the future. With your consent some consultations will be videoed. If you do not want a student present please let the receptionist know
