Detailed description:
The staff are very generous with their personal time and this has enabled us to run lots of sporting clubs including football, netball, tag rugby, cricket and athletics. The school did particularly well in the Inter-school competitions for football and netball. We also used outside specialists to run clubs and activities such as Karate, trampolining and rock climbing. The school was successful in obtaining the NOF funding in order to run a multi-skills club for children who would not normally be keen to take part in physical activity.
We run specialist PE lessons called the 'Complete Athlete' through the Portsmouth City Football Club. We have also hosted able child art days.
For children who are not keen on sport we also run a nature club, gardening club and ICT club which are all well attended.
The arts are highly valued at Laburnum and we run a very successful dance group which also involves year 7 children revisiting the school and taking part. The dance group enjoy taking part in the Dance Time competition at the Worthing Pavilion. Other actors and dancers enjoyed working with our secondary feeder school taking part in the Rock Challenge. Our choir enjoyed taking part in the Big Sing at the Arena.
