We can also help with any problems with damp throughout your home: Dry rot - this is a fungus and is often thought of as a building cancer, rampaging through buildings and rapidly destroying any timber in its path. The fungus, which thrives in moist unventilated conditions, will penetrate brickwork to get to more timber and can cause widespread destruction of structural timbers, skirting boards and door frames, and wood flooring. Wet rot - this is occurs where timber is damp and occurs in poorly ventilated spaces or where the paint is old and flaking Woodworm - the most common species of woodworm is the Common Furniture Beetle (Anobium punctatum). This species can be identified by the small, round holes that are left on the surface of the timber (approx. 1.5 - 2mm diameter).
