Short profile:
Born in Newcastle, Jon had success in the Choirboy of the Year competition, sang in the cathedral choir and performed his first lead operatic role as Amahl by the age of 11. The more recent of his 25 roles, with groups such as the Northern Sinfonia, Surrey Opera and at the Ryedale Festival include: Tamino (Magic Flute), Ferrando (Così fan tutte), Eisenstein (Die Fledermaus), Gherado (Gianni Schicchi), Spoletta (Tosca), Remendado (Carmen), Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore), and all the major Gilbert and Sullivan roles.
Detailed description:
Jon studied at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, before focusing solely on
a vocal career with Adrian Thompson, Margaret Humphrey-Clark, and since graduating with Colin Baldy in London and Italy. Jon’s worldwide performances in venues as diverse as the Kremlin and famous sports stadia, include singing and conducting on major film soundtracks, over forty different oratorios, performances for the Royal Family, Radio and TV broadcasts. He has released a solo album Operatic Arias, was runner-up in the Classic FM Live & Uploaded competition, and taken lead roles in two films.
