Jolly Red is run by designer Kelly Fletcher. The company was set up in 1993 by Kelly, shortly after her graduation from the Royal College of Art in London.
Detailed description:
Having trained as a tapestry weaver, Kelly was offered many wool-based commissions, including one to create a needlepoint design for Ehrman Tapestry. Having noticed the absence of any colourful kits in the UK's shops at that time, Kelly set about creating a small range of kits under the banner of Jolly Red.
Since those early days Jolly Red has grown considerably, and in 2009 boasts over 80 designs across its tapestry and cross stitch ranges.
Kelly still creates all of the tapestry designs herself, working in a very low-tech 'pencil and paper kind of a way'.
