Short profile:
The origins of the dry cleaning business go back to 1817 when Johnson Brothers started in business in Liverpool as silk dyers. In 1920, Johnson Brothers joined forces in amalgamation with two dry cleaning companies, Jas Smith & Son and Flinn & Son Ltd of Brighton. Further expansion of the Group took place over the next 60 years until Johnsons became the largest dry cleaning organisation in the country.
Johnson Cleaners UK Ltd (JCUK) was formed in 1995 when the 12 operating companies, which made up the Johnson Group in the UK at that time, were restructured into just two companies.
In 1995, JCUK opened its Central Processing Unit (CPU) in Rugby to meet the growing demand for specialist services from our customers.
Detailed description:
All branches of Johnson Cleaners are able to provide a Dry Cleaning service for virtually all items of clothing, whether everyday wear or special garments such as wedding dresses or formal wear.
The vast majority of items are Dry Cleaned at the branch and can often be available for collection in 24 hours.
Some items may require more specialist Dry Cleaning and are sent to our Central Processing Unit (CPU) in Rugby for treatment.
Service times for garments processed at the CPU will depend on the item and the day the order is presented to us, but will usually be ready within 1 - 2 weeks.
