Short profile:

Pupils and students at JFK follow an established curriculum. 2-4 years the Foundation Stage, 5-16 years the National Curriculum (as in all schools), and 16-19 years the Post 16 curriculum devised by all the post 16 staff and students.

Subjects/activities covered include sign-a-long, sensory activities, massage, mini enterprise, music, drama, swimming (either in school or at local leisure centre), work experience and ICT as well as other subjects such as Maths, English, Science and PSHRE

Post 16 promotes more independent living skills as young adults. Spending more time within the community with many outdoor activities enabling more students to experience using their own leisure time enjoying and achieving in activities of their own choosing.

Educational visits to different destinations are a priority at JFK. They give all our learners the opportunity to experience different atmospheres and learning environments as well as be with other people outside our school community.

Many activities are shared with other learners who come for sessions from mainstream schools. They particularly use the pool, sensory studio and music/drama facilities. Many JFK learners spend time in mainstream schools attending lessons specific to their needs.
