in general, most printers have their specific areas of expertise, small offset, full colour litho, web, gravure, screen digital and more besides. rarely can a single printer offer more than a couple of the different processes available, normally only one. often subcontracting parts of a project (without a project management infrastructure) to supply the finished order. even within their own area of production they may not have the best equipment or machinery for the job and with the best will in the world machines break down, jobs are delayed and delivery dates suffer. the very best print management companies have the technical know how and the supplier base to offer the best solution possible, but beware, many “print management companies” are at best print brokers, casting their net wide, buying cheap, and selling high, with little or no regard for quality and service.
