Detailed description:
Where possible, we recycle all waste which we collect from various sites throughout the province.
Materials which currently can be recycled are: hardcore, wood, metal, plastic, cardboard etc. All materials are transported to our licensed Waste Transfer/Recycling Facility at 1 Duncrue Place, Belfast, where we operate a state-of-the-art C & D Recycling Plant. This specialist plant has increased our recycling rates close to around 95%. Our plant is capable of segregating all waste from incoming skips and roll on-off containers.
Hardcore is crushed at our site by our Rubblemaster Crusher then used as a saleable aggregate for use by the construction industry.
Wood is chipped at our site and transported to a chipboard manufacturer within Northern Ireland. This is then used for the manufacture of chipboard and for the production of boiler fuel pellets. Farmers have discovered that this recycled wood makes excellent cost effective cattle bedding. All timber is 100% recycled, this includes the nails in pallets which our machinery picks out using powerful magnets.
Metals are segregated and baled on site, then transported to a licensed scrap merchant where they are processed and sent onwards by ships to steelworks on the mainland and Europe to be re-manufactured into new steel.
Plastics are sorted and baled on site, then sent to a reprocessing plant where they are washed and go through an extrusion process so that 100% is recycled into new types of plastic.
Cardboard is graded and baled on site. After this process the bales are sent onto a paper mill where they are pulped and made into new cardboard and paper products.
IRS Skip Hire services the larger construction sites on a daily basis, removing and recycling their waste. The versatility of our vehicles means we can also drop off and collect multiple skips rather than one at a time; reducing waste-management costs to the customer.
