Short profile:
Intercargo is the short name for the International Association of Dry Cargo Shipowners.
Our members operate predominantly Bulk Carriers in the international dry bulk trades, such as coal, grain, iron ore and other bulk commodities. Our main role is to work with our members, the regulators and other Shipping Associations to ensure that shipping operates safely, efficiently, environmentally and profitably. To do this, we actively participate in the development of global legislation through the International Maritime Organization and other similar bodies.
Detailed description:
The International Association of Dry Cargo Shipowners, (INTERCARGO) is the association to aim for the interests of owners, operators and managers on dry cargo shipping industry since 1980. It has worked closely with the other international associations to promote a safe, high quality, efficient, environmentally friendly and profitable dry cargo shipping industry.
Dry bulk trades comprise iron ore, coal, grain, timber, steel and other similar cargoes which are shipped in bulk as opposed to carried in containers or other unit loads. Delivering these commodities every day requires an efficient dry cargo shipping industry - without which, world trade as we know it would cease.
