IKHWEZI UNPLUGGED

Ikhwezi Unplugged represents the evolution of several successful businesses, from the sourcing and supply of renewable energy systems and the installation thereof, to a single entity that integrates the value chain from sourcing and production through to installation.

Our lineage stretches back to 1986 with the establishment of Barjoy Agencies which evolved into Solar Solutions (Eastern Cape) in 2001. Collectively, these entities have supplied and installed solar hot water systems for over 23 years.

Unplugged Renewable Energy was formed in 2008 and represented a continuation and enhancement of the previous structures, designed to bring quality products and installations to the greater South African market, whilst diversifying its service offering across the range of renewable energy technologies.

Recognising the potential of the renewable energy market, a locally based concern with extensive experience in manufacturing, particularly in the automotive industry, joined with Unplugged Renewable Energy to form Ikhwezi Unplugged (Pty) Ltd in early 2009. Their considerable experience in manufacturing, particularly in aluminium and copper products, provided for an obvious synergy between the parties and the formation of Ikhwezi Unplugged (Pty) Ltd was a natural progression. Its purpose is to continue the work of Unplugged Renewable Energy, but to also explore the potential for manufacturing of renewable energy technologies, including but not limited to solar thermal systems and LED lighting products.
